I grew up in a small town. My father owned a general construction company. The motto, ‘framing to finish’ exemplified his jack of all trades skillset.  My mother worked alongside him most days and was very much the artist behind the custom finish work he became known for later in his career.

I left my hometown at the age of 17 to become the first member of my family to attend college.   I studied entrepreneurship, small business management and accounting at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and graduated with honors and a degree in Business Administration.

I started work immediately at a public accounting firm where I earned my CPA license doing both tax and audit engagements. Over time, I found the volume based compliance work repetitive and craved a new challenge.

I went to work as the financial controller at a regional specialty subcontractor and was quickly reminded of my entrepreneurial roots that motivated me to study business in the first place.  I appreciated the complexity of the business environment, the messiness of the people and the challenge of bringing it all together into a financial narrative that was then relied upon to make decisions.

Perhaps predictability, I found the corporate structure too stifling.  I felt compelled to play by a different set of rules and to make a larger impact.  In a massive realignment of priorities and an emboldened sense of purpose, I left my corporate career in 2017.

I now work exclusively with inspiring entrepreneurs where I leverage my years of hands-on industry experience with the comprehensive technical knowledge of systems and reporting to empower decisions through financial leadership.
